Nurture a Healthy Planet

A healthy life is a life well lived. To ensure a wholesome life, it is essential to have a healthy body and mind. This is deeply connected to the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. All of which we naturally derive from our planet and therefore, our health is interdependent on its well-being. However, over the years, the Earth’s ecosystem has gradually deteriorated and is severely damaging the haleness of its inhabitants. So, it is only fitting that the theme of the World Health Day 2022 is ‘Our Planet, Our Health’. Cadila Pharmaceuticals has the rich legacy of care and it is in synergy with this year’s theme.

The Significance of World Health Day and Cadila’s Legacy of Care

The first World Health Day was celebrated on 7^th April in the year 1950. The concept of a day dedicated to health was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948, when it had first formed the World Health Assembly. The significance of this day is to create awareness about as well as address health related issues, and to appreciate the contribution as well as achievements of medical fraternity.

Cadila, as a pharma and as a responsible corporate entity, has been in tune with the theme of ‘Our Planet, Our Health’ for over seven decades. The organization has and continues to implement various systems to ensure preservation and recycling of essential natural resources.

Cadila boasts of lush green campuses and as part of its pledge to increase green cover, it has planted over 90,000 saplings across India. All its campuses have rainwater harvesting pits, which also help in replenishing the groundwater levels, and are equipped with energy efficient systems. Its manufacturing and factory units follow a Zero Discharge System, wherein waste is processed before it is released. The water is treated with Effluents Treatment Plant and Emission Control Incinerators are used. Cadila has eco-friendly mechanism for waste management, which converts trash into fertilizing material. All the pharmaceutical waste is segregated from the biohazardous waste before it is disposed. Cadila also provides bus transportation to its employees, which reduces the use of multiple vehicles.

Walk or cycle when you can, close the flowing tap whenever you spot it, turn of those lights in an empty room, plant a sapling and eat organic food.
