Bacterial infections remain a significant cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The urgency of this situation is heightened by the alarming rise of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), a major global health threat that complicates the management of common conditions. Globally, AMR was linked to an estimated 4.95 million deaths in 2019, with 1.27 million deaths directly attributed to antibiotic resistance.

India also faces a particularly significant infectious disease burden, and the country is the largest consumer of antibiotics globally in terms of absolute volume. The government currently has the highest Drug Resistance Index (DRI), indicating the lowest level of antibiotic effectiveness among all analysed countries.
