dose of 5 mg /day given as 2.5 mg twice a day.
Dose as per body weight : 30 kg & less : 5 mg once
daily; more than 30 kg : 10 mg once daily. |

infections (including peritonis) burns and post-operative infections. |
Adults : 15 mg/kg body weight daily in 2 div. Doses
for upto 10 days Total max. 1.5 gm / day. UTI : 7.5 mg/kg body
weight daily in 2 div. Doses. Children : 15 mg/kg/24 hours body weight
in divided in every 8 hours. Neonates : 10 mg/kg body weight as loading
dose as followed by 7.5 mg/kg every 12 hours. I.V. route dosage is identical,
injection spread over 2-3 mins or a slow i.v. infusion spread over a
period of 30-60 mins and for infants and neonates 1-2 hours. |

The dose of Ciprofloxacin is determined by the severity
of the infection, type of infective organism and age, weight and renal
function of patient. The recommended dosage schedule of Ciprofloxacin
is : 1) Uncomplicated UTI : 250 mg every 12 hours. 2) Prostatis and
complicated UTI in patients with severe underlying structural abnormalities
: 500 mg every 12 hours.
3) Lower Respiratory Tract Infections : Mild:
250 mg, moderate severe : 500 mg; all every 12 hours, Dosage of 750
mg every 12 hours should be preferably be used in case of Infection
with resistant Gram-positive bacteria, 4) ENT Infetions : 500 to 750
mg every 12 hours., 5) Bone and Joint Infections : 500 to 750 mg every
12 hours 6)Enteric Fever : 500 to 750 mg every 12 hours 7) Gynaecological
Infections : 500 mg every 12 hours 8) Gonorrhoea : 250 mg single dose,
9) Septicemia, Bacterimia and Intra-abdomina infections : Initial IV
Ciprofloxacin therapy may be followed by oral 500 to 750 mg every 12
hours Children : Not Recommanded |
